Course of Mediavolunteering
The Center for Leadership and Volunteer Work provides a unique media volunteering training for all HSE students!
As a result of the course, you will gain comprehensive knowledge about the sphere of volunteering and charity, will obtain skills in writing and editing texts, creating content, as well as organizing photo and video shoots to promote social projects.
• Course format: hybrid (online and face-to-face formats)

Our course is
• 305 graduates of the course (those who have completed their studies)
• more than 500 students who participate in the course
• 21 experts and speakers from creative industries and NPOs
• 30 social partners of the project: NPOs, museums, CSR departments of companies that offered their cases to students
• 27 tutors and mentors (students and staff) in total
• 16 online lessons in 3 course blocks: "General", "Texts and Social Networks", "Production and Shooting"
• more than 200 publications about the course: about its realisation, results, including posts created by media volunteers-graduates of the course

The Course is available for HSE students who
- are from different faculties, programs, and campuses but who are interested in media, volunteering, and charity
- want to improve their skills in creating media content and working with social networks
- are ready to become members of the media teams of the Center for Leadership and Volunteer Work and the project "Cyrillitsa" after the course, or members of many other university projects
- are ready to work with socially oriented tasks of partners from non-profit organizations
The Course Program

General block
During this part of the Course, you will complete 3 lessons, as well as several tests and one assignment:
• Basics of volunteering and charity
• An introduction to modern media consumption
• The first steps of a media project: goal setting, competitor analysisBased on the results of the block and your application, you will be able to choose a further development track for the course.

Blocks "Texts and Social Networks" or "Production and Shooting"
After completing the general block, you choose one of the two tracks. Each of them provides working with tutors, as well as performing tests and assignments.

Face-to-face workshops with experts, elective meetings and exchange of experience
The online part of the course is complemented by face-to-face meetings with experts from the media sphere, as well as thematic elective meetings for full immersion in learning. Attending these meetings is optional, but it's a cool opportunity to network with like-minded people.

Work on the final media project
Based on the results of the course, we will select active participants who will be invited to develop a final media project for one of the NPOs. Together with the support of experts, tutors and representatives of the NPOs themselves, you will have the opportunity to work on a real media case.

Presentation of the final project and reflection of learning
Students who complete the final case present it to customers, set common goals for finalizing and transferring the product to NPOs, and agree on common projects.
All course participants reflect on their experiences with mentors and choose a further path of development.

Path 01:
Working on your own projects and self-development
By acquiring and developing media skills after the course, you will be able to promote your personal social networks and projects or apply your knowledge to the development of student organizations and campus units.
Path 02:
Work in the projects of the Center for Leadership and Volunteer Work
After the course, active participants will have the opportunity to join the media teams of the Center for Leadership and Volunteer Work and the project "Cyrillitsa" without selection. The work in these teams goes through the Projects Fair and provides applied credits.
Path 03:
Working in partnering projects
The knowledge and skills gained during the course will be ideally useful in the work of other HSE media teams and in covering the activities of NPOs. Networking within the framework of the course will provide an opportunity to establish oneself with the center's partners: the editorial office of Extra, the HSE Student Initiatives Support Center and non-profit organizations that are looking for interns and new staff.
